Good for the Soul

This prolongued weekend has been just SO good for me.

I have been suffering from general tiredness since goodness knows when and today (alas the final day of the long Bank Holiday weekend) I feel fabulous!!

It kickstarted off quite horrendously when I, and what seemed like every other 'Londoner' was escaping their home for the weekend to visit their friends/relatives/in laws in Devon and Cornwall. It was the most packed train I have ever seen AND I had no seat!! Then that unmistakable voice of the train driver began, he wanted to apologise because apparently ther train engikne wanted a break too and refused to start and cooperate with the driver. I thought about the bottle of wine in my bag that was 20ft away from me and I cried a little.

20 minutes later - I had excused myself into a reserved seat in the hope that the person wouldn't turn up, and remained there for two hours, poor bugger never did come to claim his/her seat - and ...... we were off!!

I sat there learning my lines for a bit and then dug out my guide to Brazil. Whilst preparing my wish list the chap sitting next to me asked me when i was going to Brazil and explained he had been there for three months in 1997. He told me about some really great spots to visit and we sat there and chatted for ages. Occasionally others chipped in and we found out that the guy sitting diagonally opposite me hadn't seen his girlfriend for three months and even though she was on the same train as he was, they were heading down to see her folks, they were on different carriages and the train was so full that he couldn't make his way down to see her. That man had willpower and was simply lovely too, he kept offering his seat to the older business man who had paid £127 for his ticket and had no seat!!

Anyway what could have been the worst train journey ever turned into a really pleasant experience. My two most amazing friends picked me up at Exeter and it was just SO good to be with them for two whole days. So much has been going on for the three of us, in very different ways, that it was so good to catch up with them and get each others opinions and reassurances about things that were going on in our lives. We know each other so well that we can be totally relaxed with one another and it is the greatest feeling in the world. The two days with them was nicely finished off with a long walk by the beach and it has really wetted my appetite for my walk in Jersey.

Getting back to St Albans and knowing that I had another two days off was really really nice. Although I am missing Rich terribly, he is spending the weekend in Kent with his Ma, but the missing would be much easier if I could talk to him but he left his phone charger at home and the battery has run out! Silly bugger!!

So instead I have been getting dirty in the garage, throwing stuff out in preparation for moving out of my ma and pa's and I plan to wash the car and generally tidy up a bit today. Stupidly though I have hurt my hand knitting, don't ask (!) and now all i feel like doing is crying, I think Rich might love me a little less now that i have confessed to knitting. Ha! He will be laughing on the other side of his face when i knit him a Jasper Conran imitation scarf like the one that Mr Hawes wears.

Actually if this pain carries on the only place those needles will be going is the BIN :)

Yours as always, Misty Harris xxxxx
