Butterflies and Bicycles

I am parking at this new place at work and the first thing I have noticed is how many butterlies there have been on the way to work - I drive through quite a lot of countryside which I feel very lucky about - and also how many there are when I park in Luton. The car park is surrounded by budlias and they seem to attract them all.... they are so very pretty.

Unfortunately not so pretty is the pesky car park attendant who has persisted in greeting me with a rather salubruious 'alright gorgeous' for the lat two mornings in a row. It is already starting to get on my wick a bit and I feel like telling him what my name is so that he can drop the lecherous speak but I do feel like we will be entering into a whole new 'friendly' territory which makes me feel even less comfortable than he already does.

Yesterday the boy and I bought ourselves two very new and shiny bikes - which I immediately felt really guilty about as I go away in two weeks time and money is really tight for me at the moment - however, as I bought the last one in the shop mine was already assembled and I got some money off as it had a 'scratch' on it which later transpired to be some dirt that came off!! He he!!

Anyway Rich had to put his own bike together which at first he was really excited about and as the evening wore on the excitement wore off, and the swearing fest began. At first it was a few huffs and puffs, and then some grumbles but the final straw came when he realised that his rather thin racer tyres have a different pump nozzle to mine and to every other person who owns a mountain bike AND not a racer. He was so desperate to ride to work this morning that he even went upstairs to ask our neighbours if they had a pump that worked on his tyres, this produced a negative outcome I am afraid to say. A phone call to Marty a little later produced a positive outcome - hooray Marty had a pump that would work on the boy's bike.

Ladies and Gents I will leave you with a little image to end my lastest blog entry; picture a very excited young man, picture him with his shiny new bike, now picture him wheeling it all the way to work as he has no air in his new tyres and therefore cannot ride it to work ..... yet. Bless him :)

Smile

Well what a mad two and half months I have had, thus explaining the reason for lack of blog posts. Right after my last blog posting Rich seemed to go into overdrive and look for houses that week whilst I was in Leicester. We had decided that it might be a good idea to move in together and when I got back we looked at some houses in St Albans which quite frankly were pretty shit (!) and based upon our lack of success in snorbans our search moved us further afield to Stevenage - and that is where i am writing this post from. It is Sunday, 10.30am and my boy is still fast asleep next door..... :)

Well we moved in on the 06/06/06, unlucky for some but not for us, at least it is a rememberable date!! Anyway living with the boy is the best thing in the world. It is so chilled out and so much fun - especially when you live with someone who makes me laugh as much as he does. Although I am fairly certain that I bring him as much hilarity as he does to me - he has discovered that I am the most adept person at hurting myself. Yesterday within the space of two minutes i had stubbed my toe against our bed and hit my hand very hard on the chair..... the series of expletives that ensue out of my mouth I suspect are what makes him giggle the most!!

Anyway if the first three months of this year were the worst that Rich had ever had then I suspect the last two and half months are making up for it. He has got himself a kick arse job which he loves and the grin on his face is permanent, most conveniently it is based in Stevenage (the job not the grin!) I too have started a new job as of the beginning of this month - it is pretty much a dream job which is really going to test me but which is making me very excited and will bring me into contact with some interesting individuals. I confess to having had a fair few sleepless nights worrying about my job but i reckon that is because I have so many ideas floating around in my head!

In just over three weeks I will be flying to Brazil for a semi research/travel trip and a mixture of nervousness and total excitement is slowly sweeping over me. I have a lot of catching up on studying to do but I think I will be ok for the dissertation. Basically the trip over to Brazil is something that I have wanted to do for a long long time but the fact that I am doing it all on my own is slightly daunting!! I will have a total of three weeks in Rio (for interviews etc) and three weeks travelling around Brazil. The country is so vast that I have made some executive decisions about what I can realistically do in three weeks of travelling. This unfortunately means that I will not make it to the Amazon and I have instead decided to go to an area called Pantanal which also has lots of forest and wildlife - this means that I will have the chance of going horseriding on the beach which I am very excited about.

Anyway I guess I had better get on with some studying......

Ps. Not sure about this 'green' blog, does it make my postings look like giant bogey's?! I thought the pink was far too ridiculous! Might get Rich to make the green look prettier :)
